Why is Optrix only on TestFlight, not the App Store?
Because Optrix is still in its test phase. TestFlight lets us ship new versions far faster than the App Store, where every update has to pass through Apple's review queue first.
We also get automatic crash reports, you can send feedback straight from the app via screenshot, and we can work with a small tester group when we need to. Once Optrix feels stable and has enough levels, the App Store version will follow.

Why do I need to sign in to play?
Unlike traditional games, Optrix levels and your solutions aren't bundled into the app — they live on our servers. That lets us release new level packs without you needing to install a new app version, and it means your progress automatically follows you to every device you're signed in on.
To make that work, we need a sign-in. Either with an email and password — or, on iOS, Sign-in-with-Apple if you prefer it quicker.

Can I play Optrix offline?
Only partly. The web version needs an internet connection, because levels and your progress are loaded live from our servers (see above).
The native iOS app has a dedicated Offline Mode for exactly this: you download the levels you want to play without a connection ahead of time, then switch Offline Mode on. Your progress is kept locally and syncs automatically with the server the moment you switch back to online mode. The upcoming Android version will work the same way.

Why is Optrix free, with no ads or in-app purchases?
Because Optrix is a labour of love for the two of us, not a product. The original idea is from 1995 — back then in TurboPascal with 16-colour VGA graphics. In 2025/2026 we set out to finally build it the way it was always meant to be.
Ads, tracking and in-app purchases would gut the calm character of the game, so none of that exists here. If Optrix is fun for you, we'd love to hear about it — feedback is the most valuable currency at the moment.
